Newcastle ‘on the brink’ of Sevilla agreement to make it nine outgoings this summer

Fresh from selling Martin Dubravka to Burnley in a permanent exit for the Slovakian, it looks like Newcastle United are about to move on another goalkeeper.

A shake-up is needed, with Aaron Ramsdale signed on a loan-to-buy from Southampton last week, while veteran stopper John Ruddy also signed a one-year extension along with Mark Gillespie.

And a shake-up is what we’ve seen, as Dubravka’s exit after seven and a half years at the club is set to be followed by a move away for forgotten man Odysseas Vlachodimos.

As revealed by the i’s Mark Douglas on Thursday afternoon, it’s believed the Greek international is ‘on the brink’ of a move to La Liga side Sevilla.

Due to the nature of his PSR-driven move from Nottingham Forest last June, a permanent move for the 31-year-old would’ve seen Newcastle record a loss on their books.

As a result, it is a loan deal that’s been agreed between Newcastle and Sevilla, although it is not clear if the Spanish giants will have an option (or obligation) to buy included in the move.

With this deal in mind, Newcastle’s outgoings for the summer would move up to nine, including loans:

Lloyd Kelly – £14m + add-ons (Juventus)

Sean Longstaff – £15m (Leeds)

Martin Dubravka – tbc (Burnley)

Callum Wilson – Released

Jamal Lewis – Released

Isaac Hayden – Released

Antonio Cordero – Loan (KVC Westerlo)

Joe White – Loan (Leyton Orient)

*Odysseas Vlachodimos – Loan (Sevilla)

Sevilla endured a tough season over the 2024/25 campaign, narrowly surviving relegation to the second tier after finishing 17th, just one point and place above the drop zone.

We revealed last Sunday, before news of Dubravka’s exit had gone mainstream, that the club were in discussions over moves away for both goalkeepers, and exits for both have now progressed this week.
