Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and Liverpool boss Arne Slot have been nominated for best male manager of the year at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.
The Blues women’s head coach, Sonia Bompastor, has been nominated for the female equivalent of the award, as have Arsenal Women’s boss Renee Slegers and England manager Sarina Wiegmann.
Bompastor had the daunting task of replacing Emma Hayes in the Chelsea Women’s hotseat, but succeeded with flying colours as the side won the domestic treble.
Slegers took over Arsenal Women midway through the campaign following Jonas Eidevall’s resignation. The Dutchwoman oversaw instant success as the Gunner’s won the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the second time ever.
Wiegmann will fancy her chances of seeing off both managers to the award, though, after guiding the Lionesses to a second consecutive European Championship title this past summer.
Brazil boss Artur Elias and Justine Pwanidi Madugu of Nigeria have also been nominated for the women’s award.
Maresca and Slot face stiff competition for the men’s honour, with PSG’s Luis Enrique, Hansi Flick of Barcelona, and Napoli’s Antonio Conte also nominated.

Maresca guided Chelsea to glory in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup while also qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
Slot won the Premier League title in his debut campaign in charge of Liverpool after he replaced Jurgen Klopp in the dugout.
Meanwhile, both Arsenal and Chelsea have been nominated for the women’s club of the year award.
