Best Man United FPL Players to Own and Avoid in 25/26

With some big name transfers joining this summer, we take a look at which Man United players FPL managers should look to own and which ones to avoid ahead of the 25/26 season!

To say Man United are an FPL enigma would be an understatement. Following a very busy Summer Transfer Window, particularly in the attacking department, United now find themselves absolutely loaded with potential FPL starlets. The catch however, is that they are coming off a season in which they finished a measly 15th.

There is reason to be optimistic about the new signings however, with both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both punching in stellar years within the premier league. Acclimatisation delay should therefore not be an issue, as both should be able to hit the ground running.

We also performed a deep dive on both Cunha and Mbeumo to analyze how well they will fit within Amorim’s system and what their prospects are from an FPL standpoint. Naturally they were both the stars of the show at their former teams so such analysis is very useful when ascertaining how much of that form they are able to carry over, and what the attacking picture will look like for Man United.

FPL Deep Dives

When deciding the best Man United options for FPL, the best way to do this will be through answering some of the most common questions asked when building a team. The first one being a key one.

Cunha (£8m) or Mbeumo (£8m)?

When 2 players are priced and positioned identically, it will naturally be impossible to not compare the 2. Both have been lighting it up in pre-season and Amorim has not been shy about experimenting with his front-line. In theory, Cunha projects as the more direct of the 2, featuring at the 9 for segments of United’s pre-season, and also taking on far more shots per 90 than Mbeumo as a result.

Cunha v Mbeumo

Where Mbeumo makes up for this however is in the creative department, as he was able to finish top 10 in both goals and assists. We do need to take these stats with a pinch of salt however, given Brentford were one of the league’s highest scoring teams, while Wolves were…well Wolves.

One Versus One provide an excellent comparison of the 2 for those more statistically inclined.

In FPL terms however, the answer to the question is neither. Although £8m seems like a reasonable price point, we need to remember not only the club they are joining but where they came from. They were both the focal point and primary goal scorers for their former teams, and with the recent addition of Šeško as well, the pie at United simply isn’t big enough for all 3 to produce to an elite level. If you did want one of them, we would lean Mbeumo as his creative tendencies provide a decent floor, but for now we would avoid both.

To Bruno or not to Bruno?

Now, if there is one FPL asset from United who can be relied upon, it is Bruno Fernandes. Coming off another 20G/A season, we absolutely love Fernandes heading into the new season. To say United’s front 3 have improved would be an understatement. Bruno has always been an elite level playmaker, so with Mbeumo, Cunha and Sesko now to aim for, the foundations are all there for elite assist numbers.

Where things get even more exciting however, is the introduction of Defensive Contributions. Now even though on the ball Bruno is as good as they come, off the ball he is one of the hardest working midfielders in the league.

96th percentile for tackles (2.43 per 90)

86th percentile for interceptions (0.69 per 90)

73rd percentile for blocks (1.07 per 90)

89th percentile for clearances (1.17 per 90)

With attacking AND defensive upside, penalties and a massively upgraded front line, we love Bruno at £9m. Big Yes.

Šeško Season?

Another key question is what to do with Šeško. Now given we do not currently have a price for him, it will be very hard to assign any sort of value or advice in regards to including him in your teams. One thing is for sure though, he is a more than capable finisher, with 3 of the league’s top playmakers surrounding him. In theory therefore, all the ingredients are in place for a stellar season, but we would just wait and see how United set up first.

Budget Enablers

Best Man United Players to Own and Avoid FPL

The final big question in regards to Man United, is who are the budget enablers? We think we’ve found a couple.

Patrick Dorgu (£4.5m) – For just the 2nd cheapest price point at the defender position, being able to secure a wingback for a theoretically good premier league team is not bad going. with a 0.22 xGA per 90 and strong defensive contribution upside, Dorgu could be excellent value here. Assuming he can shake off Dalot for the starting spot.

Ayden Heaven (£4m) – With Martinez estimated to be sidelined until November, there is a real shot Heaven can claim one of the 3 CB positions. With great CBIT numbers to boot, should Heaven secure a starting spot, he will skyrocket to the top of the budget enablers charts.
