Everton are stepping up their pursuit of Manchester City winger Jack Grealish.

The former England international has struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola, starting just seven games in the Premier League last season.

The Friedkin Group want to add a marquee signing, and David Moyes is desperate for attacking reinforcements, so a move for Grealish makes sense for all parties.

Here, Goodison News rounds up the latest updates on a potential Grealish move to the Toffees.

Everton open Grealish loan talks with Man City

Everton have approached Man City over a season-long loan deal for the England star, according to a big update from David Ornstein.

However, the Athletic reporter claimed (6 August) that the deal is complicated and it is not guaranteed that he will join the Toffees at this stage.

He stated that discussions are ongoing between the clubs over a potential solution to the veteran’s future.

‘Deal there to be done’ amid Everton Grealish interest

Everton could strike a deal for Grealish to make the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, according to Alan Myers.

The renowned Blues reporter aired his thoughts on whether the move was a genuine possibility, via X (6 August).

He believes that there is a chance that the Blues sign him, saying: “Grealish interest has been there for a while, as far as I understand, there are no formal negotiations ongoing, and the situation is as it has been since the window began.

“Man City will decide what they want to do (permanent/loan/or stay), definitely a deal to be done though imo.”

Everton move has ‘added motivation’ for Grealish

Grealish could have extra motivation to move to Everton this summer.

A report from The Herald (page 37, 5 August) claims that the City star has “added motivation” to play regularly ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

It states that he wants to be in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for that tournament, so that could make a move worthwhile for the former Aston Villa man.

Grealish’s last England appearance was the 3-1 win over Finland in October 2024.

How much Everton could pay Grealish in wages

Grealish is understood to be on £300,000-per-week at City, and it is unlikely that the Blues can afford to pay that.

Goodison News believes that the Toffees could pay the 29-year-old around £150,000-a-week, which would fit in with the budget constraints on the club.

That would also be satisfactory for the Citizens as they would wipe up the same amount off their wage budget ahead of the new season.
