Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love said in April that there’s one specific skill he was trying to improve on in the summer – his footwork, which he said is fundamental among players of his position.

“I got so much better from understanding how the footwork helps your accuracy, it helps your decision making, it helps with the timing of the play,” he said.
He’s adding one more and this time, it is something that will benefit not only him but the entire offense. The problem, however, is that this will make him vulnerable to the defense.
Offensive coordinator Adam, who already teased a range of weapons, said last week that he encouraged their QB1 to run more during offensive plays, something he said will be a huge weapon for them.

As Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich looks on, quarterback Jordan Love (10) throws a pass during organized team activities Wednesday, May 29, 2024 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Love is very receptive about the idea. He also recalled how there are plays he regretted because he could have done more if only he decided to take matters into his own hands. Or legs.
“You look back and you’re like, ‘Man I could’ve took off and run.’ A little of it is just understanding what the defense is doing, what coverage we’re getting, how the D-line might be playing some of those games where they start twisting and doing different things, understanding where the holes in the pocket might be to have the opportunity to step up and escape,” he said in an exclusive by Matt Schneidman of The New York Times.
Jordan Love said health was the main hindrance
Love’s main weapon is his arm and ability to make throws in the pocket with better accuracy than most more heralded QBs.
That’s what he was known for coming in to the league in 2020.
The NFL is where he should be compelled to improve and be more dynamic when it comes to his signal calling. If one would ask why he only thought about running now, Love said it is because of his health whenever entering new seasons.
“I think every game there was a couple options or instances where I could’ve took off and run,” he said explained.

“I think early on, some of it was with the injury, just not wanting to get out and do as much, but I think even later in the season, there was a lot of opportunities for me.”
Running quarterbacks is not new to the league. The last to one to have huge success on that is Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson who already won the MVP twice.
Fans will get to see this new weapon when the team takes on the New York Jets for their first pre-season game although it is not clear yet if he will play in that. Their first game of the 2025 NFL season is against the Detroit Lions.
