Ballon d’Or nominees for 2025’s best player revealed

A number of Premier League stars have received nominations for best male player of the year at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.

Mo Salah is one of the favourites to claim the honour after enjoying a phenomenal season in which he registered 57 goal involvements as Liverpool won the title. Reds teammates Alexis Mac Allister, Florian Wirtz and Virgil van Dijk have also been nominated.

New Arsenal signing Viktor Gyokeres, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer of Chelsea, and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland are the other Premier League players nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Meanwhile, England stars Hannah Hampton, Lucy Bronze and Leah Williamson were nominated for the women’s player of the year. All three were instrumental in England’s Euro 2025 success this summer, while Hampton and Bronze were key to Chelsea’s domestic treble and Lionesses captain Williamson helped Arsenal win the Women’s Champions League.

Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey, Steph Catley and Emily, and Sandy Baltimore of Chelsea also received nominations.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday, 22 September, 2025.
