Just in: Man Utd agree deal to sign Sesko, Leipzig approve transfer

Manchester United and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement over a deal for Benjamin Sesko, according to Slovenian newspaper Dalo.

The Red Devils have already added to their squad by completing deals for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, with Ruben Amorim prioritising moves to bolster the attack after a shocking 2024/25 campaign.

But the club have now moved to bring in a traditional number nine too and have seen off competition from Newcastle United to complete a deal for the 22-year-old.

After tabling an initial offer worth €75m (£65m) plus €10m (£8.6m) in add-ons, Man Utd altered their offer to €80m (£69.4m) + €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons to get closer to the Magpies' offer of an €85m (£73.7m) package.

Talks have been ongoing overnight and on Thursday morning, and it has now been reported by local journalists in Sesko's native Slovenia that an agreement has now been found between the clubs on all financial aspects of the deal.

Sesko's move has now been authorised by the Bundesliga club, and it's expected that the 22-year-old will travel to Manchester for a medical imminently.

Personal terms have already been agreed between the player and Man Utd, with Sesko set to pen a long-term contract until at least 2030 at Old Trafford.

That's despite Newcastle offering a bigger overall package to both Leipzig and Sesko according to Fabrizio Romano, but Sesko was convinced by Man Utd about a move to join the Reds instead, and that deal is now set to happen imminently.
