‘Here we go’ - Fabrizio Romano says Man Utd have agreed £73.7m deal to sign Sesko

Manchester United have agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to sign Benjamin Sesko ahead of Newcastle United, with Fabrizio Romano giving the move his trademark 'Here We Go' signature.

The talisman had been linked with a move to the English top-flight last summer with Arsenal, Chelsea and the Red Devils all thought to have been in the market for his signature.

However, he signed a new deal, instead plying his trade at the German outfit for another campaign, scoring 21 goals in 45 games in all competitions. But a move to the Premier League is now on, and he is set to move to Old Trafford.

Romano: Sesko to Man Utd is 'Here We Go!'

That hasn't stopped interest in his services, though - and with United needing a new striker after some poor performances from Rasmus Hojlund over the past year, Romano has posted on X (formerly Twitter) that they've finally been able to agree a fee with Leipzig, whom he wanted to leave after they failed to qualify for any European competition whatsoever alongside a poor campaign in the Champions League last time out.

Man Utd will pay an initial €76.5m (£66.3m) plus a further €8.5m (£7.3m) in add-ons, and the player has been given permission to travel to Manchester to complete his medical before putting pen to paper on a deal until 2030.

Sesko, who joined Leipzig from sister club RB Salzburg after some strong performances in Austria, has become one of the leading strikers currently on the market after a flurry of attackers moved clubs earlier in the campaign.

Viktor Gyokeres has joined Arsenal from Sporting, Hugo Ekitike has moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool, whilst Chelsea have plumped for both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap in a real marker of their ambitions.

Although both Newcastle and United had been linked with the likes of Victor Osimhen and Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins throughout the summer months, it's been the Red Devils who have been successful, and now their chances of securing European football have been increased.

Sesko has only just turned 22, meaning he has a huge career ahead of him - one that has already seen him labelled as 'unstoppable', a 'speed demon' and an 'alien' by analyst EBL, thanks to his contributions at Leipzig. The Premier League will be waiting with anticipation as to what he can produce in the top-flight under Ruben Amorim.
