“Don’t think he’ll say no”–Belief Luis Enrique won’t block Bradley Barcola to Liverpool

On Wednesday evening, L’Equipe published a couple of stories on [Liverpool interest in Bradley Barcola](https://sportwitness.co.uk/suggestion-e100m-from-liverpool-could-make-psg-wobble-over-bradley-barcola/) and what PSG’s potential stance would be on a sale.

Some other French sources quickly jumped on the back of the story, trying to claim it as their information, but it was the French who were easily out in front and everything else was a reaction to that.

It felt like L’Equipe had a couple of stories lined up on Liverpool interest, and PSG’s position, and were then given the signal to publish them yesterday.

A part of the story which was clear was an attempt to get out a €100m+ price tag for the 22-year-old, so it was known that if PSG decide to sell – to Arne Slot’s side or anyone else – then that will be the ballpark figure.

Part of one of the L’Equipe articles stated the following: ‘_In recent days, Liverpool has decided to accelerate and intensify its contacts around the former Lyon player. With one piece of information in mind, which PSG has been communicating to the player’s entourage for several months: Barcola is not for sale and will not leave the club this summer._

_“We’re not going to lie, there’s a 95% chance he’ll stay in Paris,” confides an inside source. “But it’s not 100%, so…” What could then influence Paris’s position? Money? Liverpool have decided to put the means on the market this summer, and it would certainly take an offer above €100m for PSG to start thinking, even if their financial strength allows them not to need to sell.’_

Of course, it doesn’t take such a leap to believe this is the work of PSG, with the French club marketing the possibility of Barcola being sold.

[Le10Sport](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/transfert-de-barcola-ca-va-faire-mal-au-psg-753398) have quotes from RMC’s L’After Foot podcast, and they reveal perhaps what’s really in consideration at PSG when it comes to Barcola.

Daniel Riolo is quoted as saying: “_At PSG, ultimately, since Kvara (Khvicha Kvaratskhelia) has been here, he’s no longer a starter. In the clubs we’re talking about, in my opinion, he won’t be either. He’s a guy who used to start the game and who stopped starting the game when Kvara arrived. At PSG, I don’t think he’s a player who totally fits what Luis Enrique wants, and if he finds something that suits him better, I don’t think he’ll say no to that player leaving. Luis Enrique will fight harder to keep a Kang-in Lee than a Bradley Barcola.”_

PSG had nine players nominated for the Ballon d’Or on Thursday, Barcola wasn’t among them. Reading between the lines, they’d be open to at listening to offers around €100m.

Will Liverpool bite? That remains to be seen.
