Report: £50m star now open to joining Crystal Palace, Parish considering approach

Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling is open to joining Crystal Palace this summer, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed.

The 30-year-old England international has reportedly opened the door to a move to Selhurst Park, with the Eagles staying informed on his situation and now considering a move.

Sterling has no future at Stamford Bridge under head coach Enzo Maresca, who is reportedly not planning to use the Kingston-born winger in the upcoming season.

The English winger, who joined Chelsea in a £50m deal from Manchester City in 2022, spent last season on loan at Arsenal and has two years remaining on his contract with the Blues.

According to Bailey, several Premier League clubs have looked into Sterling’s situation this summer, with both Fulham and West Ham also registering their interest.

Sterling is most likely to depart Chelsea on another loan deal if he joins any of the aforementioned clubs and is eager to stay in London, as his son Thiago plays for the Under-9 side at Arsenal.

Any permanent deal remains difficult due to Sterling’s high wages – he is one of the best-paid players at Chelsea, earning a reported £325,000 per week.

Sterling made a total of 28 appearances on loan at Arsenal last season, scoring just one goal and providing five assists for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Crystal Palace have been one of the quieter Premier League clubs this summer, having brought in just two fresh faces to Oliver Glasner’s squad so far – goalkeeper Walter Benitez and left-back Borna Sosa.

The Eagles are expecting a busy end to the summer window, also in terms of outgoings, as star attacker Eberechi Eze could leave amid long-standing interest from Arsenal.
