Leeds United plan shock move for Liverpool star – £20M fee mentioned

Leeds United are set to be very active this month. The club still have a few holes in the squad that need filling. This notion was backed when Daniel Farke mentioned this after the Villarreal game.

Farke said Leeds are not ready for next season, looking at the personnel available. There are worries about the quality and depth in attack, especially as they club have failed to replace Manor Solomon, and have not signed a new center forward.

Simon Rix of the Kaiser Chiefs agreed that there are ”obvious” gaps in the team that need work.

“So far, the business seems really good but it feels obvious where the gaps are. We – and the club – know where they are.” he said.

“I think the most worrying area is cover for full-back. If either [Jayden] Bogle or [Gabriel] Gudmundsson get injured, it is Sam Byram in both places, which is a bit of a worry. Having someone else in that area, which is difficult to recruit for as a back-up, is something we need to happen.”

Per the Athletic, Leeds have now set their sights on Liverpool star Ben Doak.

Sources close to the player have revealed that the Whites have serious interest in signing him this summer. Doak is currently with the Liverpool squad in pre-season. It is believed that the Reds will be open to selling the 19-year old if they receive an offer in the range of £20million this summer. Liverpool are not in a rush, and could keep him as a squad option if no offer comes their way.

Club to address problem areas

Just like Daniel Farke said over the weekend, Leeds have now accelerated internal discussions. The Whites now believe they need to recruit full-backs, No 10s, wingers and strikers.

The rest of the month is going to be interesting as the club race against time to secure their targets. Leeds face Everton in their Premier League opener in just over a week.

Ben Doak would be a solid addition

Despite his age, Doak has shown he can be a useful player at senior level. Last season, he recorded three goals and seven assists in the Championship. He has immense potential, and will only get better with the right coaching and team.

What will be a huge positive is that despite just registering 10 goal involvements, his underlying numbers are impressive. Leeds could be signing a very good player this summer.
