The Benjamin Sesko comments that give Rasmus Hojlund his Man Utd lifeline in exciting all-out attack mode

There are conflicting claims about the future of Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United.

With Manchester United set to sign a new centre-forward, Rasmus Hojlund’s future is the subject of speculation.

All summer long, Rasmus Hojlund has been linked with a move away. But aside from speculative loan interest from Italian clubs, there have been no permanent offers put forward for the striker.

Hojlund has made very clear that he has no desire to leave the club, speaking amid the Benjamin Sesko links. He is not ready to give up on his Manchester United dream.

And if Hojlund does not wish to leave, United may be stuck with him and have to find a way to make it work.

Benjamin Sesko enjoyed playing alongside another striker

Ruben Amorim’s system is based around playing with one striker, with two deeper lying creative players behind him.

And there is no suggestion this is about to change, but during in-game situations, there are always opportunities when United are chasing a goal.

United fans recall the desperation of Ruben Amorim having to throw Harry Maguire up front in games at the end of last season.

There will be opportunities where situations demand, for both Sesko and Hojlund to share the pitch together, when Manchester United launch into ‘all-attack mode’.

This is something Benjamin Sesko enjoys, as he explained to Bundesliga.com discussing his partnership at RB Leipzig with Lois Openda.

He said: “We’ve already played a long time together now, so we are more connected. The good thing is that because we both have speed and quality on the ball, we are not selfish. We help one another, and that’s what also makes us so effective.

“We also have players behind who can play us in. I’m just looking forward to lots of matches with him, along with my other teammates. I think it’s going to be amazing.”

Rasmus Hojlund has given himself a chance

At the end of last season, Rasmus Hojlund was dismal, and was one of the losers from the team’s post-season tour, where he doubled down on his poor performances.

He was one of the winners from the pre-season tour of the USA, where he looked more lively and managed to get on the scoresheet, netting a rare header.

In doing so, Hojlund put in a reminder that he is only 22, and with more support around him, he might still make good on his potential.

Sesko can be a help and not a hindrance. While they are competing for one spot, if United recover next season and qualify for European football in 2026-27, there should be plenty of game time to go around.
