The 30-year-old was signed from Hibernian in 2018 and has since gone on to make 285 appearances for the club, establishing himself as a fundamental figure in the side and a popular presence both for his teammates and supporters alike.

Aside from his 30 goals and 40 assists in those outings, the Scottish international has been a hugely influential player for us with his impact on the pitch, and as club captain, he remains a critical leadership figure with the quality to influence our play in both phases on a consistent basis.
Further, with his versatility, experience and having played such a pivotal role in our progression over the past six years or so, there would be few, if any, Villa fans who would be open to the idea of seeing him leave this summer.
According to [Sky Sports](https://x.com/SkySportsNews/status/1953475959325065452), Villa have rejected an £18m offer from Everton for McGinn, while it’s added that the club consider him not for sale.
In terms of the bid itself, £18m seems far too low for a player of McGinn’s quality and experience, and so it’s not particularly much of a surprise that Villa have immediately rebuffed Everton’s advances as that bid surely comes nowhere near our valuation of him.
That said, he remains a crucial figure for Emery and an important part of his plans moving forward, and so it seems highly unlikely that Villa would be open to the idea of losing him, especially just a week or so before the new season starts, having been successful thus far in keeping the core of our squad together this summer and trying to build and strengthen around it.
In turn, while it’s added in the report above that Newcastle United are also interested in the Villa midfielder, it would be a big surprise if we ended up opening the door for a departure, as McGinn surely has plenty left in the tank to continue to be a critical player for us, and it’s hoped that ultimately results in success and silverware in the upcoming campaign to cap off what has been an exceptional journey together thus far.
