The performances of ex-Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood have been recollected by his former club Getafe.

Greenwood spent the 2023/24 season on loan at the Spanish side before being sold by United for £26.5million to Marseille last summer. The club decided to move him on after he was suspended in January 2022 amid allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

He was later charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. But in February 2023, Greater Manchester Police announced that the charges against Greenwood had been dropped.

His first season at Marseille saw the 23-year-old score 22 goals and provided another six assists in 36 games to help Les Pocheens record a second-placed finish. As he prepares for his second season at the Orange Velodrome, his future has been speculated following links to Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr all reportedly keen.

A move hasn't yet gathered pace but the window in Saudi Arabia doesn't close until September 2.

With a return to Spain seemingly off the cards for now, Getafe took to Instagram to reminisce about Greenwood’s short time at the club.

Sharing a series of photos of the player, Getafe wrote: "Aura, magic and talent. Memories of a special number."

While Greenwood could remain at Marseille for another year, having expressed his desire to do so, United will be closely monitoring his situation due to the 50% sell-on clause included in his move to France.

Any potential profit Marseille makes from a future sale of the forward would see United pocket half, putting the Reds in a position to benefit financially.

Previously asked about his future, Greenwood said: "I hope to be here next year to play in the Champions League. Some players tell me that playing in the Champions League here is something special. It was a very positive season. We achieved all our goals, we qualified for the Champions League.

"I feel better on the right flank. But wherever they want me to play, I'll do it. If I have to play defence, I'll do it. What matters is what the coach wants. In the middle of the season, maybe I wasn't at my best, I probably had some defensive difficulties, but everyone supported me.

"We realised with the coach that there were things to do in training to resolve these difficulties. We really managed to stay united. But it's only been one season, it will be better with experience."
