Pep Guardiola should be petrified if Liverpool now sign 'intelligent' star, he ran riot vs Man…

With Liverpool arguably doing the best business out of any Premier League club this summer, figures within the Manchester City camp could be worried about the Reds’ incomings.

It seems like Arne Slot’s side could further bolster their squad as Liverpool remain interested in signing Alexander Isak.

Manchester City have rebuilt their squad with the signings of Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and James Trafford in particular.

However, Liverpool were virtually the finished article last season anyway — adding top players like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike to their roster.

If Liverpool sign Bradley Barcola, Man City boss Pep Guardiola should be concerned

Another big name Liverpool are now targeting is Bradley Barcola, with journalist Fabrice Hawkins confirming their interest in the Frenchman.

Manchester City scouted Barcola as well, who has cemented his reputation as one of the best wingers in the world and could instantly slot in as Luis Diaz’s replacement at Anfield.

City’s interest suggests that they rate the Paris Saint-Germain speedster highly and when Luis Enrique’s side beat them 4-2 in the Champions League last season, he looked like a man possessed.

Barcola perhaps gave Matheus Nunes the toughest outing during his spell as an emergency right-back, bursting past him for fun as he especially did for Ousmane Dembele’s goal with an outstanding run that was followed by an assist.

The 22-year-old went on to score PSG’s equaliser against Manchester City as well by tapping the ball past Ederson.

Barcola, who Olivier Giroud described as “intelligent” in his column for L’Equipe could further elevate this Liverpool side, which should concern Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola — with 21 goals and 19 assists to his name last season.

The prospect of the youngster lining up alongside Ekitike and Mohamed Salah could mean the Reds potentially having the best front three in Europe — and unless a rejuvenated Guardiola works his magic, Arne Slot could be set to retain his league crown.

However, City will have every reason to back themselves in next season’s title race, having serial winners in their squad such as Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Ruben Dias and Phil Foden to name a few.

But if Liverpool end up signing Barcola, Manchester City fans will need no reminding of how effective he was against them at the Parc des Princes.
