Jesse Marsch hang your head in shame as £1m decision comes back to bite Leeds - opinion

Leeds United have had some dodgy decisions made for them, but no more than this one after a recent update.

The 49ers will be hoping to avoid the regret of selling players this summer, as Mateo Joseph’s sale represents a risk.

This comes after Mallorca look to finalise a deal for Joseph as the young Spaniard seems to be on his way out of Elland Road.

After his time at the Whites, he has shown promise that could see him worth a decent fee in the future.

Leeds are reluctant to sell Joseph as his value could ‘skyrocket’ and they will want to avoid repeating a mistake which is coming back to bite them.

Several Premier League clubs bid for former Leeds United star Leif Davis

There have been some questionable sales in the past, but none of them seem to top the departure of Leif Davis.

The Whites sold Davis for £1 million in 2022 to Ipswich Town as despite showing promise from a young age, Victor Orta’s decision was final.

Davis was labelled as ‘incredible’ as he hit the ground running straight away at The Tractor Boys and has proven to be one of their most important players, which leads to now.

Journalist Mike McGrath is reporting that several Premier League clubs have come forward with a bid for the 25-year-old, as his form in the top flight continued despite Ipswich’s relegation.

Although these bids have been rejected, more offers are expected, and the Peacocks selling the full-back for pennies looks laughable, as surely these offers came with respectable fees.

With his sale, Davis is now Premier League quality, and Jesse Marsch is the one with egg left on his face.

Jesse Marsch should be ashamed of Leif Davis call at Leeds United

The decision made was certainly a baffling one, as Marsch got his own look at Davis during the 2022 pre-season.

Despite playing him in just one match against Aston Villa before the season started, the American still saw that as enough to cash in for a measly £1 million.

Although he was a raw talent, the left-back only had one season at Bournemouth to prove his worth on loan, and now his time at Ipswich speaks for itself.

Assists 34

These numbers from defence in three seasons are impressive, as Davis has been mooted for an England call-up as well.

It even got to the point last season where Davis created the most chances in the Premier League from defence.

The Englishman’s talent speaks volumes now, but it leads any fan to question what Marsch was thinking.

Junior Firpo’s exit would’ve been perfect for Davis to step up, but now the Whites are set to be embarrassed as a Premier League club are looking for his signature, with a fee that could blow his Leeds sale out of the water.
