Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira most probably has chosen Stuttgart over Italian club Parma as his next destination. Stuttgart have shown their serious interest in the player, too. Multiple reports have confirmed that Arsenal have already started the negotiations with the German club. The English club want to sell Fabio Vieira under a stipulated transfer fee of €40 million. Earlier, the Portuguese midfielder was so close to joining Parma. But at the last moment, the negotiations fell apart. While, Arsenal wanted to release the player on loan at first but VFB Stuttgart are pushing hard for making it a permanent deal.
All You Need to Know About Fabio Vieira
Fabio Vieira arrived at the Emirates as one of the finest talents in Europe. Fans were also very excited about the Portuguese midfielder. But things didn’t turn out as it was planned. Since joining Arsenal, Fabio Vieira hasn’t been able to shine to the utmost. Vieira started his football career at Portuguese club, FC Porto. He was a brilliant academy graduate at Porto. In the 2019-20 season, he was granted promotion to the senior team of Porto for the first time ever. He was one of those young talents who burst onto the map of European football in no time. Soon, several clubs from different leagues turned their eyes to the player. But under the noses of many interested clubs, Arsenal successfully snatched Vieira away from Porto. Although he was a hot prospect when he arrived at the English club, his overall stats aren’t very eye-catching. In 49 matches for the Gunners, Vieira has only bagged 3 goals. Many football pundits believe that the excellent performance of Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard overpowered Vieira’s presence in the main team. The bigger picture didn’t take much time to change the scenario. Soon, Odegaard joined Arsenal from the Los Blancos on a permanent move. On the other hand, Arsenal loaned out Vieira to his parent club, Porto. While many thought that this would be a game-changing decision in his career, Vieira has still delivered a so-so performance. With the new big names in the midfield, Fabio Vieira knows that his time at Arsenal is over.
No Kind of Reunion for Vieira
Fabio Vieira initially had two options in his mind. Two clubs were interested in getting his services. Other than Parma, Porto were keen on keeping their academy graduate on loan for one more season. At Parma, former assistant coach of Arsenal, Carlos Cuesta, is now the manager of the team. When Vieira’s departure was beginning to become imminent, Cuesta requested the club officials to rope in Fabio Vieira. At one stage, everyone thought that Vieira would choose Parma over Porto. It was quite understandable as the 25-year-old footballer won’t risk another year of his career being a loanee. Parma fans have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of their new midfielder. But Bundesliga side Stuttgart have entered the race now. Vieira still has 2 more years in his contract but Arsenal want to get rid of him as soon as possible under a reasonable transfer fee.

Author’s Note: Arsenal Are Making it Difficult
The Gunners won’t let their player go cheaply. When they brought in Vieira, it cost them a hefty price. This time, Arsenal have set the price tag at €30 million. But the DFB Pokal winners do not want to spend more than €20 million for Vieira. But the club needs someone like Vieira in their squad, too. Stuttgart have shortlisted Vieira to replace midfielder Enzo Millot ahead of the new season. Stuttgart also have another option in hand. Celta Vigo attacking midfielder Willot Swedberg can become the backup option for the German club if the negotiations collapse with Arsenal.
