The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed quarterback Logan Woodside after Will Howard’s hand injury will force him to miss this week’s game.
Woodside, a University of Toledo graduate, was a seventh-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2018 NFL Draft. Now 30, Woodside joins with Arthur Smith once again.
He played for Smith in Tennessee while with the Titans, and spent four seasons from 2019 to 2022 in Nashville. Smith then linked up with him again in Atlanta, where he remained from the end of 2022 through 2023.
Woodside returned to Cincinnati in 2024. Head coach Mike Tomlin says the team hopes to get Woodside up to speed and he could play on Saturday. He will wear No. 6.
To make room for Woodside, the Steelers released long snapper Tucker Addington, who had been the second-team long snapper for most of training camp.
Over his career, Woodside has just seven passing attempts and four completions for 34 yards and one interception. Woodside was the MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2017, vaulting him up draft boards.
