Liverpool 'determined' to sign 42-G/A French star, ready to submit 'concrete offer' - journo

Liverpool are plotting an audacious swoop to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola this summer, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The 22-year-old moved to Paris from Lyon in 2023 and didn’t take long to hit the ground running with 14 goal contributions across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.

He enjoyed his best career tally so far in the recently concluded season with 42 goal contributions in 64 games, including 14 goals and 11 assists in 34 Ligue 1 games for the French champions last season.

However, despite his goalscoring output, he’s not a guaranteed starter at the club, with Luis Enrique preferring the attacking trio of Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Several clubs will look to take advantage of the situation, and Liverpool have now earmarked the youngster as their prime target to bolster their left wing this summer.

According to Tavolieri, Liverpool are preparing a ‘concrete offer’ to sign Barcola this summer.

The Premier League champions are ‘determined’ to follow up their interest with a bid following recent negotiations, according to the report.

The transfer journalist adds that the Reds’ will need to pay at least £87m to sign the French international this summer, so it will need to be another huge outlay if a deal is to be agreed.

‘Concrete offer’

Liverpool have already spent almost £300 million this summer, as they have signed Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, with Barcola and Isak among their next targets.

While nothing is concrete at this stage, the departure of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich and the expected departures of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa will leave the Reds with just three senior forwards – Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Ekitike – prompting the need for added depth.

Harvey Elliot has also been linked with a move away from Anfield, so Liverpool will need to act swiftly to get immediate reinforcements in attack ahead of the season opener in less than a week.

Barcola presents an exciting option for the club, as he’ll bring not just an attacking threat and output but also a high level of dynamism, as he can be deployed across different attacking positions.

With an offer being prepared to sign the Frenchman, several reports suggest that Liverpool still retain an interest in Isak, so it’ll be interesting to see if the club will swoop for both players or prioritise a move for one.
