Tyreek Hill responds to Madden 26 speed rating snub: ’98 where?’

Tyreek Hill isn’t buying his Madden NFL 26 speed rating, and he’s got the receipts to prove it.

For the first time in six years, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver didn’t receive a perfect 99 in speed. Instead, EA Sports gave Hill a 98—still elite, but a step down from the blazing standard fans have come to expect. Hill, never one to back down from a challenge, took to social media to protest the downgrade.

In a video posted to his X account, Hill is seen sprinting on a track and hitting a top speed of 26 miles per hour.

“98 where? Lol,” he captioned the clip.

Even with the slight dip in speed rating, Hill’s overall Madden score remains impressive. He received a 95 overall—ranking him as the fifth-best wide receiver in the game, ahead of stars like Terry McLaurin, Mike Evans, A.J. Brown, Drake London, and Davante Adams.

Still, the lower rating follows a statistically quieter season by Hill’s standards. In 2024, he recorded 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Nicknamed “Cheetah” for good reason, Hill has long been considered one of the fastest and most dangerous players in the league. At just 5-foot-10 and 191 pounds, he’s used his speed to torch defenders since his rookie season.

Back in 2016, Hill clocked 23.24 mph on a kick return, the fastest speed ever recorded by NFL Next Gen Stats at the time. In 2023, he continued to dominate the speed leaderboard, posting the third-, seventh-, and ninth-fastest in-game speeds.

His confidence in his speed had him challenging Noah Lyles—who won the men’s 100m title at the 2024 Olympics with a 9.784 time—to a head-to-head race.

However, the highly anticipated race between the NFL star and the track phenom never happened. In late June, Lyles announced the race was off due to “complications” and “personal reasons,” according to the New York Post.
