‘Worst moment’…Benjamin Sesko won’t repeat Alejandro Garnacho’s Man Utd mistake, he’s already made it

Benjamin Sesko is set to sign for Manchester United, ready to take the next step in his career.

Before his imminent move to Manchester United in 2025, Benjamin Sesko had a couple of opportunities to join the club in previous years.

The timing and financial agreements did not work out, and for Sesko, this has allowed him to develop his game in a more pressure-free environment.

And crucially for a young player, it has allowed him to mature off the pitch, and make his mistakes before he got to Old Trafford.

It’s the very opposite to Alejandro Garnacho, who joined United in 2020, rocket-propelled himself into the first team, and then appears to have blown it already.

Garnacho has been doing his growing up under the spotlight, making mistakes, and currently it looks like there is no turning back.

Benjamin Sesko admitted critical mistake at Salzburg

After beginning his career in Slovenia with Domzale, Benjamin Sesko signed for Red Bull Salzburg, signed by current Red Devils recruitment chief Christopher Vivell

Playing in Austria, Sesko managed to impress, but he also had to overcome a tricky scenario where he called out his Salzburg manager and was axed from the team entirely.

Speaking to Bundesliga.com last year, Sesko admitted being shocked at the harsh treatment and described it as the worst moment of his career.

Sesko said: “I think the toughest [moment] came when I was playing at Salzburg. I should have been the first-choice striker there, and then all of a sudden, I voiced my opinion about something that didn’t go down well.

“I was young, of course. Then all of a sudden, I wasn’t even on the bench, I was watching from the stands.

“I had to fight my way back to even be in the squad and then to get in the first XI. You could say it was the worst moment, but it made me much tougher and taught me how to act in such situations. It was a good lesson.”

Sesko has learned his lesson, Alejandro Garnacho is heading out

Benjamin Sesko has already learned not to disrespect the manager’s authority. Going back years at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson did not stand for it, and nor does current head coach Ruben Amorim.

Amorim lost patience with Alejandro Garnacho following his social media blast and comments to the Argentine media, after the Europa League Final defeat.

It was one of a series of displays of petulance on social media from Garnacho, and now he is heading for the exit, training alone and looking for a new club.

Only 20, it is a sad situation for a talented player, but he has himself to blame. Garnacho has shown no signs of wanting to atone for his outbursts.

Sesko learned from his error at Salzburg and worked hard to get back into the team, and won’t be making the same error at Manchester United.
