Huge development as Middlesbrough open talks to sign Leeds United star

Leeds United have only seen two players exit the club on a transfer deal this summer. On the flip side, the club have added seven new players during the transfer window.

The Whites have done a good job recruiting, but the window is not over yet. And from Daniel Farke’s words over the weekend, Leeds could be looking to add a few more players. Among the positions discussed include fullbacks, number 10s, wingers and strikers. The days leading up to the Premier League opener against Everton will be interesting to watch.

Charlie Crew and Max Wober are the two players that have left the club on this window, both on loan deals. But there is a long list of players who are currently not a part of the plans for next season.

Among the names linked with moves away includes Patrick Bamford, Illan Meslier and Sam Greenwood. Bamford and Greenwood, among other players, are currently training with the U21s during pre-season.

One player at the club who has been attracting a lot of interest over the past few weeks is Joe Gelhardt. Rangers were said to be discussing a deal for him last week. The most recent report claims Hull City are in advanced talks to sign him this summer.

Graeme Bailey is now reporting that Middlesbrough have made a move to sign the 23-year old:

“Gelhardt obviously won’t be at Leeds by the end of the month. I’m told that Middlesbrough have made an enquiry too, alongside Hull.”

So now it looks like a straight battle between Hull City and Middlesbrough to see who signs Joe Gelhardt later this month.

Leeds line up move for Brighton attacker

Recent reports suggest that Leeds have lined up a move for Brighton star Facundo Buonanotte.

It is only interest for now, but Brighton are open to loaning the 20-year old to another club in England. Leeds will have serious competition as European clubs like Dortmund are also battling for the attacker’s signature.

Gelhardt move is a win for everybody

Joe Gelhardt finally gets his wish of leaving to a team that can provide him with first team football. It is quite a shame that it did not really work out under Daniel Farke. But now the club will get a fee for him which will ultimately count towards PSR.
