Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has offered an update on Nicolas Jackson's future amid reported interest from Newcastle United.
The Magpies are continuing to be linked with several potential new strikers after missing out on signing RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko. Newcastle had submitted a £65.5million bid earlier this week, but the Slovenia international looks set to complete a move to Manchester United instead.
Jackson has emerged as a potential target for Newcastle as they look to bring in a new centre forward. The rumours around a possible move for the Chelsea striker come amid speculation about Alexander Isak's future at St James' Park.
Chelsea have already signed two strikers of their own this summer with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap moving to Stamford Bridge. Those two signings have seen Jackson's future become increasingly uncertain, and now Maresca has spoken about the recent speculation.
"Nico is okay," Maresca told reporters on Thursday in a press conference. "When the window is open, anything can happen. This involves Nico's situation.
"At the moment, the two strikers have arrived. So we will see."
Newcastle are also being linked with Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa and Yoane Wissa at Brentford as they continue their search for a new striker. It remains to be seen what will happen in United's pursuit of a new centre forward, with the club having until September 1 to complete their transfer business.
The Magpies have made two new signings so far this summer, with Anthony Elanga arriving from Nottingham Forest and Aaron Ramsdale moving from Southampton.
