Leeds United are advancing in an agreement to let Mateo Joseph leave the club on loan this summer to La Liga, with multiple clubs showing their interest.
Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha are Daniel Farke’s only current senior strikers to choose from, with Patrick Bamford frozen out of plans, and Mateo Joseph requesting to leave.
The Spaniard was an incredibly hot topic 12 months ago after a stunning 2024 pre-season, but inconsistency in front of goal saw his stock drop under Farke to the point where he sees his future elsewhere.

Mateo Joseph advancing towards Mallorca transfer after Leeds United request
On Wednesday evening, it was revealed that Leeds and La Liga side Mallorca were progressing towards a loan deal for Joseph in the 25/26 campaign.
A desire to return to Spain is the reason behind Joseph’s transfer request to Farke this pre-season, and he looks set to get his wish with the side that finished 10th in La Liga last season.

The latest comes from Ultima Hora, who share that an agreement is “practically” done between the two clubs for Joseph to join on a straight loan.
Leeds appear adamant that they won’t allow a buy option in any transfer for Joseph this summer, likely aware that his stock could rise quite significantly if he enjoys a good season in his native Spain.
What is also shared, unsurprisingly, is that Joseph is ready to fly out to complete the move as soon as the two clubs come to an agreement.
Mateo Joseph will really benefit from Leeds United loan exit
As much as the manner of Joseph’s push to leave has left a really sour taste, there should be an agreement amongst fans that a loan is best in terms of Leeds protecting a really valuable asset.
Joseph is a superb talent and needs playing time to realise his potential sooner rather than later, and he’s not going to get those opportunities at Leeds over Piroe, Nmecha or the new signing that we’re wanting.
At Mallorca, he’ll be heading into a side that are stable in La Liga, but have needed to add more goals to their side in order to climb towards European places, so there’s plenty of trust in Joseph being that man.
If Joseph does benefit from this loan, it could prove a masterstroke for Leeds in 12 months’ time, either by reintegrating a player capable of having an impact in our lineup, or selling him for much more than he’s worth right now.
