Dallas Cowboys star defensive end Micah Parsons requesting a trade caught the attention of country music star Luke Combs.
The singer of “She Got the Best of Me,” “Beer Never Broke My Heart” and plenty of other hits, Luke Combs has been a Carolina Panthers fan since the team’s first season when he was a young kid.

The Panthers could certainly use some help after finishing 5-12 last season, and Combs took to X to try to get the franchise to trade for Micah Parsons.

The Panthers would probably not be Parsons’ first choice if he is indeed traded as the franchise has not had much success in recent years.
With that said, Luke Combs has stood by his team through the good and bad.
Combs spoke last year about how he became a fan of the Panthers at a young age.
“I grew up in Charlotte. I mean I was meeting [former linebacker] Sam Mills at Burger King when I 5 years old – the first season that we were a team. So I mean, it’s literally to say ‘Born into being a fan of this team’ is pretty close, you know what I mean,“ Luke Combs told Pat McAfee.
“It may be almost more than that, right, because they became a team. That’s some of my first memories are going to Panthers games, watching Panthers games with my dad. I mean I cried when Brady beat us in the Super Bowl. I was probably 10 years old, 11 years old. Just brutalized us.”
As for Micah Parsons, the former Harrisburg High and Penn State star requested a trade last Friday as the Cowboys and Parsons continued to fail to come to an agreement on a contract extension.
“I have made a tough decision. I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys,” Parsons said in a statement on X. “My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.”
Stephen Jones is the son of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and is the Cowboys’ Executive Vice President of Player Personnel.
Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has been seeking a new deal.
He added in the statement requesting a trade that he “did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America’s team once again.”
Parsons was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021 and has made the Pro Bowl all four of his seasons in the NFL.
He was drafted by the Cowboys with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Parsons earned first-team All-Pro honors as a rookie after recording 20 tackles for loss and 13 sacks in 2021 and has continued to be a difference-maker throughout his NFL career.
