**It shouldn't be a surprise to see a Newcastle United player overlooked for a prestigious award, we are the invisible club after all.**
Newcastle can't attract players to the club, so it shouldn't be a surprise that the people who make the list for the Ballon d'Or nominees entirely passed us by last season.
We're going to bat for Alexander Isak here, which, in the current circumstances, with the Sweden star training away from the first team and generally being a bit of an arse, doesn't quite feel right, but he has been robbed.
Besides, we're talking about last season's Alexander Isak when we still loved him.

Erling Haaland gets Ballon d'Or nomination ahead of Alexander Isak

The list of nominations for the Ballon d'Or has been announced, and Alexander Isak's name is nowhere to be seen despite scoring the winning goal in a cup final and outscoring Erling Haaland, who does make the list.
Haaland is clearly only on there because of who he plays for. The fact that Newcastle didn't play in Europe last season may have played a part, but that still doesn't seem right.
Former Newcastle United target (and one that we were pretty well against us going for) , Scott McTominay, has made the list after becoming prime Zinedine Zidane at Napoli and helping them to the Serie A title.
Indeed, the list reads like a list of Newcastle United targets old and new and yet none have even come close to moving to Tyneside.
The best striker in the world - not nominated for Ballon d'Or

In a year when Alexander Isak was being touted as the best striker in the world, how can he not be nominated for the Ballon d'Or?
I guess it's just another kick in the crotch for Newcastle this summer.
On the other hand ... how'd you like them apples, Alex?!
