Travis Kelce entered the 2025 NFL offseason with retirement rumors swirling around him. While some thought that he had played his last game with the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce decided otherwise.
After losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in blowout fashion last season in the Super Bowl, Kelce simply could not walk away.
Heading into the 2025 season, Kelce is now 35 years old. The end of his career is near, but he wants to go out on top with the Chiefs.
Throughout the offseason, Kelce has had an increased level of motivation. He has gotten into better shape and how talked openly about wanting to make a bigger impact this season than he did last year.
With that being said, Kelce recently spoke out and revealed the main source of his increased motivation.
It turns out that Kelce simply wants to win more Super Bowls.
"Trying to win Super Bowls," Kelce said. "It's the only way you get there. I think it starts in the offseason and when you get out here to St. Joe and you get into training camp, it just really signifies like coming together, the chemistry, the culture that you need to have to keep getting better every single day, every single week throughout the year, and hopefully playing your best football by December, January, and February."
Winning championships is excellent motivation. Kelce has won three Super Bowls throughout his NFL career to this point.
Last season, Kelce looked to have lost a step. He played in 16 games and recorded 97 catches, but only produced 823 yards and three touchdowns. Those weren't the numbers that fans have come to expect from him.
Despite the down season from the longtime star tight end, Kansas City made it to the big game. In order to make another Super Bowl run, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will need a quality season from the veteran star.
Kelce has been putting in the work to come back stronger in 2025. In what could be his final season, he wants to win at the highest level.
It will be interesting to see if Kelce and the Chiefs are able to make yet another run to the Super Bowl and this time win his fourth ring.
