Chelsea’s interest in Alejandro Garnacho has reached a crucial point. Manchester United have made it clear that they will only let the 21-year-old leave if they get their £50 million asking price. The West London club still want to get a deal done quickly, but they don’t want to pay what United want. The Blues would prefer to pay £30 million for the Argentina international.
The Blues want to sign Garnacho as part of their ongoing attack overhaul, and they are already in talks with RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons. Chelsea think that the Spanish-born winger wants to join them and is willing to turn down interest from other Italian clubs in order to move to Stamford Bridge.
United, on the other hand, see Garnacho as their most valuable asset among the players who are not part of new manager Ruben Amorim’s plans. The Red Devils have already spent more than £200 million this summer, including on Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo. They want to make some of that money back by selling players.
Chelsea have been keeping an eye on Garnacho for more than two transfer windows and have just finished all of the player’s background checks. Even though United were offered deals that would have involved Nicolas Jackson or Christopher Nkunku, they have stuck to their guns and want only cash.
Garnacho Situation Remains Uncertain
People think that the £50 million fee that United wants is the same as what Arsenal paid Chelsea for Noni Madueke. Chelsea thinks this comparison is too high, but Old Trafford is sticking to their guns and using that deal as a standard.
With the World Cup coming up, United know that Garnacho probably won’t sit out another season under Amorim without playing a lot. That gives Chelsea more power in the talks that are still going on, but no progress has been made yet.
Chelsea are still sure that Garnacho’s desire to join them will eventually make United lower the price, even though talks are still going on behind the scenes. But Amorim wants to change his team, and United needs money, so the next few days will be very important in deciding whether the talented winger moves to Stamford Bridge.
