Jazz Wing Gabriele Procida Inks 3-Year Deal With Real Madrid

SALT LAKE CITY – Real Madrid signed Italian forward Gabriele Procida to a three-year contract, filling the roster spot left by Hugo Gonzalez, whom the Boston Celtics selected in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft.

The Utah Jazz hold Procida’s NBA rights after acquiring him from the Detroit Pistons in 2024 in exchange for Simone Fontecchio.

Gabriele Procida Signs With Real Madrid

Despite a disappointing 2024-25 season with Alba Berlin, Real Madrid’s offer signals their confidence in the 23-year-old’s potential.

Procida averaged 9.7 points and 2.2 rebounds last season, shooting 44 percent from the field and just 22 percent from beyond the three-point line.

The forward’s 6-foot-7 frame and high-level athleticism are expected to bolster Real Madrid’s perimeter defense.

Although Procida visited the Jazz’s practice facility earlier this summer, he will remain in Europe for the upcoming season.

His contract includes opt-out clauses in the summers of 2027 and 2028, allowing him to pursue an NBA career, according to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.com.

EuroBasket Appearance Ahead

Before debuting with Real Madrid, Procida will compete for Italy in EuroBasket later this month.

Italy opens Group C play against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece on Aug. 28, followed by a matchup with Bosnia and Herzegovina and former Jazz center Jusuf Nurkic on Aug. 31.
