Bayern Munich now enter race for £80 million Newcastle United target - Sky Sports

· 7 August 2025, 21:00

**It now looks as though Newcastle United could face some serious competition if they truly want to sign Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson this summer.**

Nicolas Jackson has emerged as a favourite for Newcastle to target next after missing out on Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United.

Chelsea have reportedly slapped an astronomical price tag of £80 million on the Senegalese forward, but there have been reports that the Blues could be talked down to a deal closer to £60 million.

It would still represent a hefty profit for the London club, having only paid £32 million for him in 2023.

Bayern Munich is about to enter the race for Nicolas Jackson

Now, Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg has said that Bayern Munich have made enquiries to Chelsea about the availability of Jackson, and he has even suggested a lower price tag for the 24-year-old.

This might just be the desperation talking ...

----------------------------------------------

If Chelsea were willing to deal at €65 million (£56 million), then Nicolas Jackson starts to look like a very attractive prospect.

He may be prone to the odd glaring miss, but if we could get him into the right areas and find him with quality balls from Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga, he could start scoring more than he misses and build his confidence up. Not to mention the Eddie Howe factor.

I don't know if it's just the desperation or convincing arguments from elsewhere, but I'm warming to Jackson. I think it's the desperation.
