Report: Newcastle United happy to pay £60m for ‘unbelievable’ Benjamin Sesko alternative

Newcastle United are getting ready to move for Nicolas Jackson after missing out on Benjamin Sesko.

With Isak eager to leave Newcastle, the pressure is on to find a new striker who can lead the line for Eddie Howe.

Newcastle did want Benjamin Sesko, but he is heading to Manchester United.

His decision could see the Magpies turn to Nicolas Jackson, with the 24-year-old available for a move away from Chelsea following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap at Stamford Bridge.

That could create an opening for Newcastle United, but only if a fee can be agreed with the Blues.

Newcastle United’s Nicolas Jackson valuation is less than Chelsea’s

That could be difficult, as what Newcastle United value Jackson at and what Chelsea think he is worth is very different.

According to the i Paper, Newcastle United are ready to move for the Senegal international, who they believe is worth around the £60million mark.

In comparison, Chelsea want £80million for Jackson, who was described as ‘unbelievable’ by former Premier League striker Peter Crouch in September 2024 during an interview with TNT Sports.

That is quite a sizeable gap, with a compromise required if the forward is going to end up at St James’ Park. Only time will tell if that compromise can be found, as Newcastle weigh up their next move in the aftermath of missing out on Sesko.

How much Manchester United are paying for Benjamin Sesko

It became clear on Wednesday that Sesko wanted Man United ahead of Newcastle United.

Now there is an agreement in place between the Red Devils and RB Leipzig, who are set to lose the 22-year-old forward.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Man United have agreed a deal worth around £74million for Sesko.
