New fantasy football top-100 player rankings not high on the Broncos

The Denver Broncos have a chance to be very good this season.

After all, head coach Sean Payton is talking about the Super Bowl.

But if the Broncos make it that far, it’ll likely be on the backs of a tremendous defense that some think can be the No. 1 unit in the NFL.

That’s not to say the offense doesn’t have playmakers, but from a fantasy football prospective, Denver’s roster isn’t exactly getting a lot of love.

ESPN’s Field Yates came out with a new version of his top-100 player rankings and the highest member of the Broncos checks in at No. 59.

That would be wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who’s Yates’ 28th ranked wide receiver in the NFL. He’s doing this scoring based on PPR (point per reception), which has become the standard format in most fantasy leagues.

Elsewhere, QB Bo Nix is ranked at No. 63 (QB7), Evan Engram at No. 70 (TE7), and J.K. Dobbins at No. 93 (RB32).

Nix and Engram being in the top-10 at their positions is encouraging, but clearly Yates isn’t high on the Broncos running game. There are 32 teams in the league, and Dobbins is 32, although squads like Detroit have two backs ranked above him. Rookie RJ Harvey didn’t crack the top-100.

However, taking the Denver defense might be a smart play. They’re not included in these rankings, but a different list has them at No. 3 in the NFL.

In a world where sports wagering is becoming more popular than ever, fantasy football is still king. And while Broncos fans might want to draft a lot of their players, this list pretty much thinks only a handful are worthy of being on your roster.
