Jacksonville is buzzing with anticipation that goes far beyond typical preseason excitement.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have captured national attention with their acquisition of Travis Hunter, the rare two-way talent who has fans and analysts wondering how the franchise will maximize his unique abilities.
Hunter represents something special in today’s NFL. The rookie has spent training camp working at both wide receiver and cornerback.
Head coach Liam Coen recently provided clarity on those plans during an appearance with Kay Adams on the Up and Adams show.
“His most natural, if you would say, position is probably corner. Like, without a lot of coaching in the National Football League, what can he do maybe easiest was corner. Hence, why we deploy him so much more on offense throughout the spring and summer was to develop the offensive skill set that maybe just wasn’t quite there yet, cuz, corner was so natural. He’s done some great things out here. So, I think it would probably be balanced, but maybe, a little bit more defensive,” Coen told Kay Adams.

The approach makes sense given Hunter’s background. His defensive instincts appear more refined at the professional level.
The coaching staff has focused heavily on developing his offensive skills during camp.
Hunter arrives in Jacksonville with impressive credentials. He captured the 2024 Heisman Trophy after a remarkable season at Colorado.
The former five-star recruit averaged over 100 snaps per game while excelling on both sides of the ball.
His college numbers tell the story of versatility. Hunter recorded 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense. Defensively, he contributed 36 tackles, four interceptions, and 11 pass breakups.
The Jaguars expect Hunter to contribute immediately on offense and defense. Special teams could also factor into his role.
