The 23-year-old has made 85 appearances for the Rossoneri since joining us from Schalke in 2022, and having impressed in pre-season this summer, he looks set to play a key role for Massimiliano Allegri in the upcoming campaign.

However, speculation over interest being shown in the German defender seemingly refuses to go away, with [Fabrizio Romano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1953488241169944850) reporting that Newcastle have made a fresh approach to sign him, but it’s added that Milan are only willing to accept a huge offer that exceeds his valuation or he will stay.
Further, it’s noted that Allegri wants Thiaw to stay ahead of his first season back in charge, as he’ll no doubt have a pivotal role to play as one of our centre-halves with Milan busy strengthening other departments and not necessarily keen on having to replace individuals who we want to keep.
Time will tell if that ultimately fends Newcastle off and forces them to look elsewhere or if they decide to make a significant offer to try and test our resolve, but with the new season rapidly approaching, it would be far from ideal losing a crucial option in defence and having to scramble to ensure that we can identify and bring in a suitable replacement.
Additionally, with Allegri said to want to keep Thiaw as he looks to build his own team, it would be a disappointing setback for the Italian tactician if he was eventually sold, and so the hope is that the defensive ace is still with us when the transfer window closes.
Milan have been active this summer both in terms of incomings and outgoings as sporting director Igli Tare and Allegri try to build a more competitive squad, and so while more business is expected in the coming weeks, the Milan boss will be eager to avoid losing a player who has impressed him in pre-season and instead, focus his attention on specific positions where we still need to improve and bring in reinforcements.
