Former Saints quarterback Drew Brees is back in New Orleans this week for his third annual NOLA Picklefest, taking place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Brees, along with tennis legend Andre Agassi, is expected to compete in exhibition play sometime over the weekend as the festival draws fans and athletes from across the region.

While in town, Brees has also been keeping a close eye on his former team, particularly the ongoing quarterback competition at Saints training camp.

With three preseason games on the schedule, Brees said every snap will be critical for the trio competing for the starting job.

“These preseason reps are super valuable,” Brees said. “The Saints take a much different approach than most teams do when it comes to starters — mainly at quarterback. Some teams barely play them, but for these guys, every rep counts.”

He added that this week’s joint practices with the Los Angeles Chargers will also provide “game-like reps” that are crucial in evaluating the position.
