The Pittsburgh Steelers made one of the splashiest moves of the offseason when they inked veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal right before the start of mandatory minicamp
Since joining the franchise, Rodgers has been working on his chemistry with his new teammates and mentoring rookie quarterback Will Howard. Howard was taking well to Rodgers’ mentorship and having a strong camp, but the rookie is having a rough go as of late, with head coach Mike Tomlin confirming that Howard broke his finger in a routine handoff.
With Howard out for the foreseeable future, Pittsburgh has his replacement for the time being, according to one prominent league insider.
“Steelers signed G Andrus Peat and QB Logan Woodside to one-year contracts,” reported ESPN’s senior insider Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Steelers signing Peat and Woodside like it’s Black Friday at the bargain bin fingers crossed it’s more touchdown, less turnover,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Veteran depth, solid moves, but don’t move the needle much,” another fan added.
“Logan Woodside has made it to year 8 with 7 career passes thrown. Really want to see him get more opportunities in-game. There’s definitely a reason teams keep giving him a shot,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Woodside has a strong enough preseason to earn a permanent roster spot.
