ESPN LA will continue as radio home of Lakers

ESPN Los Angeles will continue to be the radio home for the Los Angeles Lakers for the foreseeable future.

Parts of the agreement were detailed on NBA.com.

“The Los Angeles Lakers and ESPN Los Angeles 710 today announced the extension of their radio rights agreement, ensuring ESPN 710 continues broadcasting Lakers games across the Los Angeles region for years to come,” [Thursday’s NBA.com report said](https://www.nba.com/lakers/news/lakers-and-espn-la-extend-radio-agreement). “Serving as the official radio broadcast home of the Los Angeles Lakers since 2009, the station will continue airing all regular season games along with preseason and postseason.”

Additionally, the pairing of play-by-play announcer John Ireland and color analyst Mychal Thompson will remain together.

Tim Harris, Lakers COO and President of Business Operations, issued a statement expressing his happiness with the continued partnership between the team and network.

“Extending our longtime agreement with ESPN LA is a testament to the outstanding coverage and beloved personalities they offer Lakers fans,” said Harris. “For 15 seasons, ESPN LA has delivered a top-tier listening experience with energy and authenticity Lakers fans expect and we look forward to continuing that.”

Sam Pines, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for ESPN LA released a similar statement.

“We are proud to continue our longstanding partnership with one of the most iconic franchises in sports,” Pines said. “Lakers basketball is part of the fabric of Los Angeles, and it’s an honor for ESPN LA to bring the passion, excitement and tradition of the Lakers to fans across the Lakers Radio Network every game.”
