Sources: What Man City have decided to do with Ederson and Ilkay Gundogan as Galatasaray plot double swoop

TBR Football can exclusively confirm Manchester City’s stance over Ederson and Ilkay Gundogan amid interest from Galatasaray.

The Citizens have embarked on a major squad rebuild as Pep Guardiola plots a renewed offensive on the Premier League title and Champions League.

Meanwhile, Ederson and Gundogan have both entered the last 12 months of their respective contracts at Manchester City.

The Citizens are now in a position where they must either sell them this summer, tie them down to a new deal, or risk losing them for nothing next year.

Neither Manchester City nor Ederson thinking about new contract

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been told by sources that Galatasaray have not given up on bringing Ederson and Ilkay Gundogan to Istanbul this month.

Galatasaray have already agreed personal terms in principle with Ederson – as TBR Football revealed – as they continue to look for their new number one goalkeeper.

Ederson and Gianluigi Donnarumma are their main targets, but a deal for the City star is the most advanced – although the two clubs have been some way off in their valuations of the Brazilian.

City and Ederson have acknowledged that a new deal is no longer in either of their thinking and, with his deal due to expire in 2026, a sale is being considered.

Intermediaries are talking to both sides to try and bring them together.

Manchester City would not stand in Ilkay Gundogan’s way as Turkiye dream firmly in picture

We can also confirm that Gala – who enquired about Gundogan earlier in the summer – remain keen on him, and City would not stop him from leaving.

Gundogan, like Ederson, has been assessing his long-term future as he is believed to be keen on finally fulfilling his dream of playing in Turkiye.

“I am told that Ederson and Gundogan could both leave City this month,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“We know about Ederson and their offer to make him the highest paid keeper in the world, but the fee is an issue – that said, talks are continuing.

“An official bid will go in from Gala if they think they are close.

“And Gundogan is interesting, he has been assessing his City situation – he has seen Tijjani Reijnders come in, and Mateo Kovacic is still around.

“There might not be a lot of game time coming and am told City would not stand in his way.”
