Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase are LSU legends. In addition to earning a number of individual awards at LSU, the duo helped the Tigers capture a national title in 2019, and are among the biggest names of Tigers in the NFL today. The pair have thrived as teammates on the Bengals for four seasons, and they could be in line for more monster numbers in 2025.
The Bengals opened their 2025 preseason on Thursday night against the Eagles in Philadelphia. LSU fans weren't surprised to see that both Burrow and Chase put on a show.
LSU legends shine in preseason debut
Burrow and Chase played two offensive series, leading the Bengals to touchdowns on both of them. Burrow was extremely efficient, completing 9-of-10 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns.
Chase hauled in all four of his targets for 77 yards and a touchdown that came on Cincinnati's second drive of the contest. On Cincinnati's first drive, he had a touchdown reception called back because of a chop block penalty on offensive lineman Lucas Patrick.

Chase also made a sensational highlight grab on the sidelines that sent social media ablaze. Could Chase be the new go-to first overall draft pick in fantasy football this season? That seems to be something worth considering given his continued elite production.

Tiger fans excited to see what Burrow and Chase can do in 2025
There's no doubt that Chase is a bonafide top-tier wide receiver in the NFL. The Louisiana native won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2021, and was First-Team All-Pro in 2024. This past season, he led all NFL pass-catchers in receptions (127), yards (1,708), touchdowns (17), yards per game (100.5), and yards after the catch (787). He has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in all four NFL seasons, and is a four-time Pro Bowler.
Burrow led the NFL in passing yards (4,918) and touchdowns (43) this past season, and is a two-time Pro Bowler. He's battled injuries in his pro career, but has answered the bell each time, winning NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2021 and 2024.
After a sensational preseason debut, Tiger fans are excited to see what the dynamic duo can do in 2025. The Bengals open the 2025 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 7 in Cleveland against the Browns. LSU also begins its regular season on the road with a highly-anticipated showdown at Clemson on Saturday, Aug. 30.
