With unique backstory, Johnson preaches traditional methods

Temple offensive line coach Al Johnson has an interesting coaching history that started at his high school alma mater on Wisconsin's Door Peninsula following a six-year NFL career. He coached Division III football just outside Green Bay, then spent time at his college alma mater, Wisconsin, before becoming head coach at Division II East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, before the age of 40.

Johnson eventually hooked up with Tyler Walker at Montana State, and the two made the cross-country trip to Temple in January.
