The end of the summer transfer window is fast approaching and Newcastle United are likely to have a busy few weeks ahead of them.
Eddie Howe and Co. are preparing for the start of the new Premier League season where they will face Aston Villa on the opening day. There have been plenty of rumours about what transfer business Newcastle may complete before the September 1 deadline.
Newcastle have just a few weeks left before the transfer window closes to complete any more new signings. Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale have already been signed and there is the potential for more new additions to follow.
Here, Chronicle Live takes a look at the latest Newcastle transfer news and gossip that has emerged from St James' Park over the last 24 hours.
Nicolas Jackson update
There has been an update on Newcastle's reported interest in Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.
TEAMtalk have reported that United have made an official approach to Chelsea in an attempt to try and sign Jackson this summer.
Jackson is reported to be keen on a move to St James' Park, although it remains to be seen if Newcastle would be willing to meet Chelsea's £70million asking price.
Chronicle Live says: "Jackson has been linked with Newcastle for some time, and the rumours seem to be gathering pace. However, it remains to be seen if the striker will swap Stamford Bridge for St James' Park, with plenty of time still to go before the September 1 deadline."
Newcastle approach rejected
Newcastle have reportedly failed in their efforts to sign Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro.
Spanish news outlet COPE have claimed that Newcastle made an attempt to sign Remiro, who has a €70million (£60.7million) buyout clause in his contract with Sociedad. Aston Villa are also reported to have expressed an interest.
However, it has been claimed that Remiro has rejected the chance to join Newcastle.
Chronicle Live says: " Newcastle have already signed one goalkeeper this summer with Aaron Ramsdale arriving from Southampton. If the report is to be believed that Remiro may have been an alternative option, but either way, United are well-stocked with options between the posts."
