Manchester United have made a big breakthrough as media reports in Britain state that they have agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to sign striker Benjamin Sesko. The 22-year-old forward was also courted by fellow Premier League club Newcastle, who fear losing Alexander Isak to Liverpool, but United have made the big move as Sesko has reportedly agreed to join the Manchester club on a five-year deal.
If things go as planned, then the Slovenian footballer Sesko would become Ruben Amorim’s fourth summer signing. Interestingly, United have cracked a £73.3m deal, with Newcastle offering the same, but the striker went for Amorim’s side.

United beat Newcastle in Sesko race
Sesko, who scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga last season, will travel have a medical in Manchester before finalising the move.
As per the Guardian, United will pay an initial £66.3m to RB Leipzig and the rest as potential add-ons. This will take United’s spending to £214m, having already completed the signings of Matheus Cunha, Diego León and Bryan Mbeumo.

Despite signing Cunha and Mbeumo, United’s eagerness to bring in Sesko shows their willingness to improve their goalscoring capabilities, which was a big problem last season. The Red Devils could only score 44 goals in 38 English Premier League games last season.
Why did United want Sesko?
Sesko stands 6ft 5in, which makes him a big threat in the air, but the youngster can also crank up a good pace, which means he can gel well with Cunha and Mbeumo upfront and form a deadly combination. With his height advantage, Sesko can also help United hold the ball in the final third and assist other players to get into better positions.
However, it will be interesting to see how Sesko starts in the EPL, considering that all his professional football career has come at Red Bull clubs. He joined RB Salzburg as a teenager before joining Leipzig.
Meanwhile, United are also looking to sign Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, but for that to happen, they will need some offloading. They are trying to sell or loan players like Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia.
