The 2025/26 season is yet to get underway for Chelsea, however they have already been dealt a terrible hand when it comes to serious injuries in the squad.
It was confirmed by the club that Levi Colwill had suffered an ACL injury during the first pre-season session back, and he is now set to miss the majority of the upcoming campaign.
The injury is a bitter blow for Colwill and Enzo Maresca, whose reliance on the Englishman has been clear to see since he took over.
He started 35 of the 38 Premier League games last season, and created a goal for Cole Palmer during the Club World Cup final domination over PSG.

Chelsea must now keep Renato Veiga after Levi Colwill’s injury
Reports have stated that Chelsea are not currently desperately looking to go back into the market for a new option to play at the back, with them having faith in their current options.
One player who is still at the club is Renato Veiga. A move for the Portugal international to Atletico Madrid seems to not be on the cards anymore.
Veiga was expected to leave, however the potential collapse of the deal could be a blessing in disguise for the Blues, who are in desperate need of a left-footed option at centre-back.
After just six months at Stamford Bridge, the defender departed on loan to Juventus in order to play centrally, rather than the left-back position Maresca wanted to play him in.

Chelsea must repeat Trevoh Chalobah apology with Veiga
Despite it looking as if Veiga was setting up for a career away from Chelsea, he was disappointed that he was not selected for the Club World Cup squad.
It was also reported that Veiga was upset he wasn’t set to get his chance at Chelsea for the 2025/26 season, however they have a chance to turn this around.
A similar situation occurred 12 months ago with Trevoh Chalobah, with him being banished from the first team squad in an attempt to get him to leave.
Fast forward to midway through the season, and the England international was back at Stamford Bridge and a key member of Maresca’s side, and the same could well occur with Veiga this season.
