Josh Giddey has been linked with a shock switch to the Golden State Warriors, in a move that would turn the NBA world on its head.
The Aussie is [still waiting to get his next NBA deal](https://www.news.com.au/sport/basketball/nba/josh-giddeys-nba-payday-shrinks-in-standoff-with-chicago-bulls/news-story/94634fb50248c59ee31b4cf3b9977102) as the Chicago Bulls play hardball on a mega contract extension in an off-season standoff that drags on.

The Australian finished his fourth NBA season on a hot streak, which resulted in his value skyrocketing heading into restricted free agency.
It was widely expected that Chicago would offer Giddey a contract extension worth $45 million per season, but that is yet to eventuate, with the Bulls hesitant to shell out that kind of money, offering him no more than $17m currently.
And now, in a bombshell twist, on Friday, reports have emerged that he could be about to get his mega payday, but instead of in Chicago, it would be in San Francisco.

The Golden State Warriors are currently locked in a stalemate with Jonathan Kuminga, and now there are talks he could head to Chicago, with Giddey potentially heading the other way.
Warriors officials are understood to be of the belief he could form a deadly two-punch combination with superstar Steph Curry as NBA Insider Jake Fischer revealed that an offer is currently being thrashed out.
“I can report that there have been multiple teams that have reached out to Josh Giddey’s representation about having interest in Josh Giddey,” Fischer said on Bleacher Report’s NBA live stream.
“Golden State is one of them. Golden State would be interested, depending on how the machinations could go in some type of Josh Giddey-Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade, to my understanding.
“The Warriors were prepared on draft night, way back when in 2021 for Jonathan Kuminga to go number six to Oklahoma City, and they were ready to take Josh Giddey number seven.
“But the order, of course, was flipped. Giddey went number six to OKC and the Warriors happily took Kuminga, but there was very much a world where the Warriors would have taken Josh Giddey at number seven if Kuminga was off the board.
“They still have interest in Giddey, generally speaking, but I also have been told that no matter what team it is, of the group that has reached out to his representation about being interested in a sign and trade scenario, there is not a lot of enthusiasm from these rival teams about calling the Bulls front office and working out a sign and trade.”
If Giddey were to move to the Warriors, it would give them another ball handler and playmaker and free Curry up off the ball, while Kuminga would give the Bulls a young scoring wing.
Whether it eventuates or not, only time will tell. But Warriors fans are definitely sold on the proposition of seeing Giddey team up with Curry in the 2025-26 season.
