Benjamin Sesko wages, how much he is set to earn at Man Utd, with clause Ruben Amorim will hope kicks in

The stage is set for Benjamin Sesko to thrill Old Trafford as the Slovenian striker is set to be unveiled to the fans during Man Utd’s game against Fiorentina.

In many ways, that friendly game will be the true passing of the torch moment, as Man Utd will say a proper goodbye to a club legend, David de Gea, and welcome the symbol of the new era in Benjamin Sesko.

United beat competition from Newcastle for Sesko’s signature in the biggest example yet of flexing their prestige, and the details are even better.

Here are the reported Sesko wages at Man Utd, with a clause Ruben Amorim will hope kicks in as soon as next season itself.

Benjamin Sesko wages at Man Utd

A major advantage of how Ineos have negotiated transfers is that they have eliminated all the room for potential gazumpings.

United only go for a player when there is clear interest in them alone, and that also hammers home the commitment of the player.

The byproduct is that they are able to negotiate with the player without engaging in any one-up shenanigans, thereby agreeing on wages and fees within their structure.

The same is reflected in Sesko’s wages at United as well, with Slovenian journalist Rok Viskovic reporting that the striker is set to earn around £160k/week at Old Trafford.

According to my information, £160,000 per week, which amounts to just over £8 million or just under €10 million per year.

Considering the fee paid for him clearly paints him as a marquee acquisition, that is a very good number that fits in well with the club’s wage structure.

There is the Champions League clause, which is a part of most United contracts, and one which Amorim will hope kicks in next season.

Being in the Champions League will result in Sesko’s wages being bumped by 25%, getting the total figure to £200k/week.

How Sesko’s wages compare to others at Man Utd

Getting the exact amount for wages at a club the size of Man Utd is always tricky and prone to errors, but there have been trusted suggestions this summer.

Cunha is reported to earn around £200k/week, a figure that is similar to what’s been given to Mbeumo as well, which is logical because of their Premier League pedigree and trusted quality.

Sesko’s wages at Leipzig were much less than either of those players, so it makes sense to bump him to £160k/week, since he is coming in as United’s undisputed first-choice striker.

From the Glazer era contracts, the likes of Jadon Sancho and Casemiro are still a huge weight on United’s wages, earning about £250k and north of £300k respectively.

The most lucrative contract given under Ineos is to Bruno Fernandes, and Man Utd fans won’t mind that one bit, considering his importance to the team.

The hope is that Sesko plays himself into that sort of number in the next few years.
