Benjamin Sesko is set for Old Trafford move as Man Utd and Leipzig reach full agreement
Man Utd win the race for Leipzig striker
Manchester United have pulled off a major coup by sealing a deal with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko. The striker is one of Europe’s hottest young forwards at the moment. He is set to swap the Bundesliga for the PL.
United edged out strong competition from Newcastle United to get their man this summer. As per Slovenian news outlet Dalo, both clubs have shaken hands on all financial terms.
The Red Devils had to slightly changed their original bid. Eventually, they agreed on a deal worth €80m (£69.4m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons. Leipzig have now given the green light for the move. They will be clearing the way for Sesko to fly to Manchester for his medical.
Head coach Ruben Amorim had already bolstered his squad this summer. But, the push for a proper centre-forward was always part of the plan after a poor 2024/25 season. Sesko’s decision to turn down Newcastle’s bigger offer shows just how much he believes in the Old Trafford project.
Long-term plans already in place
Personal terms have been wrapped up for weeks, with Sesko ready to sign a contract running until at least 2030. The Slovenian international has been on United’s radar for some time. His performances in Germany convinced the club to move quickly before other European clubs entered the race.
Meanwhile, Newcastle may feel frustrated after putting forward a more good proposal. But in the end, Man Utd’s sporting vision and project proved decisive.
For Red Devils’ fans, this is a signal of intent. Benjamin Sesko will lead the line for years to come. He will give the team a focal point and another dimension to their attack.
