Isak deal drags on–Liverpool now considering€100m striker option

Liverpool are keeping their options wide open and could now be swooping in for Frenchman, Bradley Barcola, if a deal for Alexander Isak fails to materialize.

The Merseyside team have been entangled in a long running transfer operation with constant back and forth in negotiations with Newcastle United. A deal for Isak to Anfield has been largely anticipated throughout the summer.

However, the transfer saga does not seem to be coming to a close anytime soon. Newcastle United have turned down two reported transfer bids for Alexander Isak. The Magpies are well aware of the strong interest from Arne Slot’s side and will seek to extract the highest possible value from this deal.

Liverpool summer madness

Liverpool have been relentless this summer window showing no signs of stopping. Liverpool have already spent a staggering £300 million this window and are keen on pushing it even further.

Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong are among the several big-profile recruitments at Anfield Stadium this summer. Liverpool have also been shrewd in the transfer market, allowing them to lay the foundation of such an extravagant transfer outlay by making some sales.

The nearly completed transfers of Darwin Nunez to the Saudi Pro League and Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, means the reds are more than well equipped to splash the bucks for Alexander Isak.

Arne Slot’s priority before the start of the season was to bolster the attacking third. With the Isak transfer stretching and the window soon coming to a close, Liverpool could be compelled to seek solutions in other directions.

Pursuit of alternative in Bradley Barcola

Reliable sources at the Standard claim that Arne Slot & Co. could be preparing to make a move for the Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola in the coming days. The Parisian club are not actively considering selling the forward but could be enticed with an offer in the range of €100 million.

Paris Saint-Germain are direct rivals to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, a factor that could turn out to be pivotal in determining Barcola’s future. Fabrizio Romano has also claimed that Bradley Barcola has always been a part of the ‘wish list’ on the Red half of Merseyside. Liverpool might have to act swiftly in order to successfully add a forward to their squad before the season commences.

Arne Slot’s side have also been linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. However, the transfer updates around the same time have dried up, hinting at a red light for Liverpool. With a striker confirmed to arrive in the coming days, coupled with Liverpool’s gigantic progress in the transfer market, the club are extremely well poised to defend the Premier League title.
