“Bruno decided on staying” – Manager on multiple attempts to take Fernandes from Manchester United

Al Nassr manager Jorge Jesus has admitted he wanted to take Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to Saudi Arabia this summer, but the midfielder has made it clear he is staying put.

Speaking to the press in Portugal after a 4-0 win over Rio Ave, Jesus didn’t hide that the idea had been alive for a while.“I wanted to, but Bruno decided on staying. We had already spoken last year. This year I knew he had made the decision to continue with Amorim,” he said, nodding to the midfielder’s loyalty to his former Sporting manager.

This isn’t some fresh fantasy either. As we told last week, A Bola revealed Al Nassr were cooking up a plan to create a Portuguese core featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, João Félix, Bruno and the coach who gave him his Sporting debut back in 2017/18. Fernandes had already turned down a monster offer from Al Hilal at that time.

For now, Bruno’s staying put, but with Jesus on the touchline and Ronaldo in the dressing room, Al Nassr will probably keep the welcome mat out in Riyadh.

And because Jorge Jesus rarely leaves without a headline, he also took a jab at England’s football pride.*“He is in a league that they say is the best in the world, but I do not agree. For me it is the Spanish league,*” he declared.
