Agreement reached for Newcastle United exit – Magpies player travelling quickly for medical

On July 23rd, AS reported Sevilla have added Newcastle United’s Odysseas Vlachodimos to their target list.

The La Liga club have made progress to sign the goalkeeper on loan this summer.

That’s according to Friday’s edition of AS, and their title says the Newcastle player is ‘very close’ to joining Sevilla. They are pushing forward for a loan deal, taking advantage of the Magpies’ need to lighten the goalkeeping position.

Vlachodimos’ salary is said to be an issue for Sevilla, who are working to find a mutually beneficial agreement with the Tyneside club.

Friday’s edition of ABC Sevilla, a newspaper local to the Spanish club, provides more on this operation.

Sevilla sporting director Antonio Cordón accelerated negotiations with Eddie Howe’s side to find an agreement. In the last few hours, the talks between the clubs have advanced, so much so that the stopper’s ‘signing has been finalised’. There are a few details pending to complete the operation.

Sources close to the negotiations have informed ABC Sevilla that Newcastle and Sevilla were ‘outlining an agreement throughout yesterday’.

The Greece international has been limited to 45 minutes since joining the Premier League club from Nottingham Forest last summer. Vlachodimos has rejected several offers to join other clubs, because he believes Sevilla is the ideal move for him.

According to the newspaper, Vlachodimos hopes to travel between now and Saturday to carry out medical tests and sign his contract with Sevilla.
