The Chargers selected two offensive weapons in the first two rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting running back Omarion Hampton in the first and wide receiver Tre Harris in the second.

Both rookies saw little action in their preseason debuts in the 2025 Hall of Fame game. But another 2025 selection was able to impress in the game.

Wide receiver KeAndr Lambert-Smith impressed in the snaps he saw, leading the Bolts with 43 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Pro Football Focus’s Mason Cameron named wide receiver Lambert-Smith as a player to watch during week 1 of the 2025 NFL Preseason.

“The fifth-round pick out of Auburn has already put himself on the map after an excellent showing in the Hall of Fame Game. The first-year receiver hauled in two big catches on third down, including a score,” Cameron wrote for PFF.

“Along with fellow rookie Tre Harris and second-year star Ladd McConkey, Lambert-Smith can round out an excellent receiving corps for Justin Herbert. While he’s not yet tabbed as a starter, if he can put together a few more stellar preseason performances, he will undoubtedly climb up the depth chart and carve out a significant role in the Chargers’ offense.”

KeAndre Lambert-Smith has done a good job impressing the coaching staff early in the preseason, especially offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

If the wide receiver can continue putting up similar or better numbers during his first preseason, he can climb the depth chart in the receiver room.

“He’s doing a really good job,” Roman said of the WR in training. “Biggest thing for the young guys, young receivers, young anybody is just the greatest ability is availability. To be able to practice every single day, build up a callous and learn from every rep. I think he’s doing that so far. We got a long way to go but so far so good.”

As it currently stands, Lambert-Smith would sit around the WR5 spot, behind the two incumbents (McConkey and Quentin Johnston), Tre Harris and recent returner signing Keenan Allen.

With three preseason games before the start of the 20225-26 regular season, Lambert-Smith can cement him spot in the 53-man roster with good showings in the preseason.

The fifth-round pick said he wants to showcase his talent in the league and help the team in any way to win.

Lambert-Smith holds his head high and has the confidence of a season despite having only one preseason game under his belt.

“I always look at myself as a top guy,” Lambert-Smith said. “I always push myself to that limit. Always been challenged ever since coming out of high school… My high school head coach instilled confidence in me and just the work I put in, I instill confidence in myself.”

The wide receiver hauled in 981 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns in his final collegiate season. If he can produce similar numbers in his rookie season, he will be a vital piece of the Chargers’ future.
